Home Old Bingo Fan: Mary

Bingo Team – Mary a more than satisfied user!

Mary is a 70 year old bingo fan. She started playing bingo after the birth of her first daughter – just casually at first, when visiting caravan parks and seaside resorts. Mary worked at a small local Butcher’s for most of her working life, and when she retired, at age 55, she took up playing regular bingo as a way to stay in touch with some of her former customers.

Her favourite bingo hall was part of a small chain which closed down when the local council decided to demolish the building it was hosted in. Rents at other similar venues were too high, so the hall never re-opened. Since that closure, Mary started playing at Mecca Bingo, but also learned to use a computer so that she could play Internet bingo with some of her friends.

“Susan told me to play on the Internet” says Mary “so I asked Rebecca to teach me. Her husband gave me one of his computers, and I haven’t looked back. I can’t always get to the Mecca, but with the bingo sites I can still play my games, and I can talk to the rest of the girls at the same time.”

“My best memory was when Susan won. I congratulated her, and I won a prize myself! I like the chat games. Even if sometimes they go very fast.”

Mary may have started out as a stereotypical bingo hall player, but moving with the times has proven very valuable.

“Since Rebecca helped me get on the computer, I have found so many things to do. There is more than just bingo on the Internet and I found some old school friends. I can even do my shopping on there!”
