Team Bingo: Rebecca

Rebecca is a 55 year old bingo fan from the USA. She moved to the UK when she was in her late thirties, and took up Bingo as a way to meet new people in what was initially a strange new country.

“I moved to England because I wanted a change in my life. I’d just been through a very messy divorce, and my home didn’t feel like home any more. England is a beautiful country, but I found it hard to settle in at first. I didn’t want to join the bar scene, and socializing with colleagues seems empty, so bingo seemed like a good way to get out there.” She explained.

“I played at all the local clubs. I probably played too much, actually. I won a lot, but I spent a lot too! I ended up getting friendly with everyone – including Rhianna – one of the callers. Once I met her, Mary, and the other girls, I settled down to just playing at a couple of halls.”

“When Telewest came to my area I got broadband, and that’s when I started doing online bingo games. I liked the ability to play unlimited bingo cards, and having the computer auto dab the bingo boards for you. I started chatting with the other players, and that’s when I got the girls to start playing too. Playing online is great for us, since everyone works different hours and some people finding it difficult to travel the distance to the halls regularly.”
